12 Angry Men follows a jury on a murder trial. All twelve are convinced that the suspect is guilty but one (Henry Fonda) is not so sure!
If any film where to be labelled 'golden classic' I think this would be one, and I can see why (Although I was surprised to see it as high as number six in the top 250 on IMDB!). The twelve men are fantastically representative of different character types, and most bring something considerable to the plot development. The fact that its set in basically one room and managed to hold my interest (plus my friend's) and remain intriguing is definitely something to behold. You revel in slowly seeing how the story unfolds and opinions and characters change. Wonderfully well written. Although the whole film screamed theater production; with the one room, the constant dialogue and theatrical representative poses. Sometimes it felt as if I was watching the play rather than the film!
The more I think about 12 Angry Men the more I realise how perfectly formed a film it is. Definitely worth your time. [A]
