Little Miss Sunshine

A stunning little film that combines superb characterisation and original, hilarious circumstances. Its also very well balanced in terms of emotion; with some brutal down to earth themes such as death and suicide to wonderfully encouraging messages like be-yourself-and-fuck-society. The  journey in the iconic yellow van is nicely shot and the actors all play their roles very well, with no particular stand out performance (although Alan Arkin as the grandad is a notable legend). The synthy sounds of Devotchka adds to the quirky nature of the movie. An all round fabulous film. [A]
