What is it about black and white films that makes them so charming? I'm not too sure but this 1944 film noir certainly has that charm.

The dialogue is brilliant and often funny. The plot engaging and unpredictable, and the characters are interesting. The acting from Clifton Webb as Waldo is the most amusing and intriguing with the best lines, and even though she's a little wooden, Gene Tierney more than makes up for it with her stunning good looks! (the 1940s equivalent of the Sucker Punch eye candy!)

It ticks all the film noir detective boxes with ease. Definitely worth a watch for any fan of the genre. [B+]
