Never Let Me Go

Mark Romanek combines the beautiful with the brutally tragic, as we follow the lives of Kathy, Tommy and Ruth as they ultimately become the organ donors they were bred for in this alternate reality sci-fi. Wonderfull acting by an extremely likeable cast. Andrew Garfield already being one of my favourite actors around at the moment, and Carey Mulligan surprising me with such an endearing performance. The chemistry between the two comes across genuine and realistic (and made me quite jealous of their raw love for one and other!) . Never Let Me Go is also at times absolutely stunning, with some fantastic camera work amid the picturesque British countryside, that made me want to leap into the sun coated fields and charming boarding school.

The subtle but crucial sci-fi element works fantasically and forced me to reflect on many aspects of my own life. The short, destined lifespans of the characters begs the questions, are we making the most of our lives and how much control over our fate do we really have?

Its hard hitting and tragic, but completely worth the emotional ride.  [A]
